Roofing Repair Companies
This particular customer contacted us about a couple of leaks in their roof. After our thorough roof inspection, we determined that most of their roof still had about fifteen years of lifespan remaining. However, two simple repairs (flashing) were necessary to fix some leaks. Also, a partial replacement of one of the sections had gotten beaten up pretty bad by recent high winds. This caused numerous leaks in one area.
Fortunately, the customer was able to get a quick and easy claim processed by their insurance company who agreed with our assessment of the situation. We scheduled the roofing repairs and partial roof replacement and fully restored their roof. The homeowner was pleased with this outcome and we were happy to assist. It means a lot to us to provide great service to homeowners in their time of need.
“Thank you for the five star review. We appreciate it very much.”
-Jason Jones, Absolute Assurance Restorations
Not every home needs a complete roof replacement. That is another reason why it is hugely important that you choose roofing companies with verifiable reputations. Sadly, far too many companies tell homeowners that they just need a new roof without considering other options. They ignore the needs of the customer and push for the full replacement of their roof.
In addition to this practice being very wasteful, it heaps unnecessary stress onto the homeowner. There is nothing like stressing someone out by providing them with an absurd roof estimate for a roof that doesn’t need to be replaced. And this shoddy practice can easily cause any homeowner to become jaded about all companies, and understandably so.
Any time you need a full roof replacement, the roofing company you choose to use should be able to demonstrate exactly why the whole roof needs replaced instead of a partial replacement or a simple repair. Remarkably, we have even seen some situations where the roof didn’t need replaced or even repaired!
This customer left us an awesome roofing review after she had called us about storm damage to her roof caused by a recent storm. You could see the damage from the ground and there were torn shingles in the yard. While not all storm damage is this obvious, this roof happened to be. We ended up doing a storm damage roof replacement and it was paid for by her insurance.
Storm Damage Roofing
First, she called us for a free estimate of her roof to assess the extent of the damage. Next, she signed with us after I explained to her our storm damage roofing process and how we could assist her during the insurance phase. I would be certain that all damage was pointed out to the insurance company. Also, when we did the roof replacement I would be certain that everything was up to code and satisfied the Ohio regulations for roofing systems installation.
Many homeowners who get roof replacements are unfamiliar with what roofers are supposed to be doing and what the proper regulations for installation are. This gets a lot of people into a lot of trouble long after their chosen roofer is gone. Always be certain you are using reputable and licensed roofing companies. An improperly installed roof will cause you a lot of problems in the long run.
It is important to ask for licensing and insurance credentials before allowing a roofer to start doing any roof repairs, or roofing project on your behalf. Many horror stories exist because some homeowners didn’t think to verify much of what the roofer was promising them. Also, check their online reviews and see what other customers like yourself are saying about their experience with that particular roofing company.

,We get quite a few calls during the harsh winter weather to remove ice dams from roofs, but how do you prevent ice dams? That is the easiest way to not have to deal with them. And since every winter there is the likelihood that harsh weather will strike our local region, it is best to prevent ice damming with a properly installed roof and insulation.
What is an Ice Dam?
An ice dam is a large frozen chunk of ice along the edge of your roof and gutters that has clogged up your normal water drainage system on your roof. And the moment you notice large icicles hanging off the edge of your roof, or gutters, you are likely dealing with an ice dam.
When the ice dam blocks the flow of water from exiting your roof and gutters, it creates a scenario for greater amounts of ice to buildup and flow into the interior of your home. This is because the water that is melting off of your roof is completely blocked from exiting the edge of your roof and gutters. The more the snow melts at the higher elevations of your roof and flows down and refreezes, the greater the ice buildup.
Some of that water flow will hit the ice dam and buildup around the edges of your roof as ice, and some won’t. Consequently, a lot of that water that doesn’t freeze will begin to seep underneath your shingles and flow into your attic and damage the interior of your home. Thus, the water flow into your home may be extensive and severely damaging.
Ice dams can ruin the sheathing underneath your shingles, your ceilings, interior walls, and depending on how great the flow of water is, your floors as well. Hence, it can be a nightmare to cleanup, and the cost of a roof repair can be extensive and very inconvenient.
What Causes Ice Dams?
The first thing you want to check for is proper attic ventilation. A roof that doesn’t breathe properly is a roof that gets very hot in the summertime and doesn’t get cold enough in the winter. During the winter, if consistent cold air from the outside is not flowing underneath your roof through the attic vents and soffit vents (installed on the underside of your home’s eaves), the underside of your roof may not stay cold enough. Accordingly, this will cause the snow and ice to melt on your roof and increase the flow of water toward the edges of your roof.
Poor insulation is a likely cause of ice damming. Many homes have insulation that settles over time and need to have additional insulation blow in. Filling your attic with the proper levels of insulation will prevent heat from escaping your home and prevent the snow from melting off of your roof too quickly.
A newer home doesn’t necessarily mean that the proper amount of insulation was blown into your attic. You would need to have an inspection of your attic to determine that the proper levels of insulation are there. You can do this personally, or hire a qualified attic insulation company.
Increasing the levels of insulation in your attic will reduce the likelihood of heat escape from your home. Consequently, this will reduce the likelihood of ice damming occurring, and your home will be more energy efficient. In other words, you will save money on energy bills, and you are more likely to prevent ice dams.

That’s why at Absolute Assurance Restorations we follow a process for roof inspections. Certainly, we follow our in-house storm damage inspection process on each roof. This is a process we developed over the years that has helped hundreds of homeowners qualify for free roofs (paid for by insurance). Indeed, when we inspect your roof we don’t cut any corners. Therefore, on every roof we inspect we are on the lookout for possible storm damage.
From Roof Leak to Storm Damage Roof Replacement
This is especially true when homeowners call about roof leaks. Oftentimes, they aren’t keeping track of when storms came through their area, especially if they don’t notice the leak right away. Sometimes it just sneaks up on you.
For instance, a recent customer called us about a roof leak and we scheduled the inspection at her earliest possible convenience. On the phone she described symptoms of water leaking that we were very familiar with based on our experience. Of course, she believed it would be a typical roof repair for the leak. However, our roofer found where the leaks were originating and not shockingly to us, lots of storm damage. In addition, we discovered sheathing damage underneath the shingles and made sure it was documented thoroughly. He documented the damage and provided her with the photographs and necessary information and she filed a claim.
We walked her through the process and within days, the adjuster approved the claim and we scheduled her new roof replacement. The rest is history. She received a brand new roof because of severe storm damage and it was covered by her insurance.

When you need a roof repair, roof replacement or a new roof installation, how do you know who to trust? This can be tricky with so many companies in each region and quite a few opportunists as well. One of the best ways to tell if a roofing company is reputable is by the professional certifications they have earned, notably the GAF Master Elite Roofing certification.
Over the past few years we have seen plenty of horrific situations that opportunistic “local roofers” have put homeowners into because they were either trying to scam them or they had bitten off more than they could chew. Whether installing a roof that wasn’t up to code, causing it to leak, or tearing a roof off and then failing to ever show up again to finish the job. (Yes, these situations really do happen!)
Roofing Certifications by GAF
Absolute Assurance Restorations, one of the top rated roofing companiesMansfield Ohio, in the region, is certified by GAF, “the leading roofing manufacturer in North America”. This means that we are provided continuous training by GAF and certified by their professionals to guarantee proper installation of your roof. Across the country, certifications are awarded to less than 3% of all roofers.
In addition to continued training by GAF, a roofing contractor must also adhere to strict standards of customer service. You must be properly licensed and carry workmen’s compensation insurance. Also, you must have a proven reputation demonstrated by outstanding reviews. And you must be registered with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) and carry a high rating (A+).
Benefits of Working With a Master Elite Roofer
A properly installed roof by GAF certified roofers means that we use only the highest quality shingles for your roof. It also means that your roof is installed properly, in accordance with GAF specifications and State of Ohio regulations and any local regulations.
Lastly, when you work with a Master Elite Roofer you are eligible for the best warranties in the industry. Firstly, a workmanship warranty to cover the installation of your roofing system. Secondly, a materials warranty to protect you against any defects in any your roofing system materials.
When you have an undetected leak on your roof for a prolonged period of time you may have to replace your sheathing. This is because vulnerable shingles that appear to be undamaged to the eye, are actually damaged because of severe storms or improper roof installation.
The sheathing under your roof, also referred to as the deck, is the wood support that makes up the base of your roof. It is the sheathing that all of your shingles are nailed to. When your roof shingles are damaged, rain water can make its way underneath your roofing system and get trapped between the shingles and the wood. Once trapped, the water will rot the wood beneath your shingles and your roofing system. Over time, your sheathing will rot and create even easier paths for water to make it into your home.
Damaged Roof Sheathing
The sheathing on your roof is made of oriented strand board (OSB) or plywood. Since they are both wood products, they are susceptible to wood rot. In older homes, long wood boards were used as the decking that your shingles are nailed to. Again, all of these boards are susceptible to wood rot if moisture and rain water makes it way underneath the shingles. Water damaged sheathing can cause additional problems for your home.
Water Damaged Sheathing
Constant leaking onto your sheathing can occur due to damaged shingles. Lifted up shingles caused by storms and improper installation (like nails going all the way through the shingles) can both cause pathways for water to get underneath your shingles. Oftentimes, when this situation occurs it is not immediately noticeable that your roof is leaking. It could takes months, even years, for damage to be noticeable on the interior of your home. This is especially true if the water is trapped between the sheathing and your shingles.
Ceiling damage inside your home is an obvious symptom of a roof leak. What isn’t obvious is how long that roof leak has been occurring and the extent of the damage the leak has caused. It is possible that the water finally made its way down to your ceiling because it took some time to rot out your sheathing. Rain water repeatedly making its way underneath your shingles and roofing system, and sitting for prolonged periods (without drying) will rot the sheathing wood.
First, water damaged roof sheathing can lead to mold on the underside of the sheathing wood. When the rain water gets through your shingles and flashing it just sits there. There is no guarantee it will dry out and not cause additional damage, thereby causing mold. Which opens the door for the second problem, prolonged leaks can lead to water getting into the walls of your home, if not immediately repaired, where mold will grow.
Mold needs to be dealt with immediately. Any roof sheathing with mold on it needs to be replaced as soon as possible. Moldy wood in your home is not safe for you and your family. And until the roof leak is repaired, and sheathing replaced, additional rain water will keep making its way into your home causing further, and more costly damage.
A sagging roof is evidence of damaged sheathing underneath. If you notice from the ground that your roof is sagging, contact a qualified roofing professional immediately. A sagging roof can be dangerous because you don’t know how bad it is or where the weaknesses are. Entire sections of the roof could be completely rotted out.
Roof Sheathing Installation
Once your roof is diagnosed and any leaks are identified, it is hugely important to hire a qualified roofing company to repair your roof damage properly and bring your home up to code. (Referring to the Ohio Revised Code regulations for roofing installation.) A lot of “preferred contractors” and shoddy roofers don’t install sheathing correctly, or even realize that it needs to be replaced, so be certain you hire roofers you can verify are knowledgeable about the process and the necessary regulations.
Lastly, it is important to always keep in mind you need proper roof installation to avoid any problems with your manufacturer’s warranty. An improperly installed roof may void the warranty. Also, if you have a storm damage claim, your insurance company may deny your claim because your roof was not installed in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code.
Absolute Assurance Restorations is one of the top rated roofing companies Mansfield Ohio. We install all types of roofs including shingles, slate roofing, metal roofing, rubber and flat roofs. Storm Damage Roofing Inspection
We had a recent call for a roof repair. Apparently, there was a leak in one of the bedrooms of the home. It seemed simple and easy to the homeowner. The ceiling damage looked small and not too serious. However, when one of our roofers got there and onto the roof, extensive wind damage was discovered.
Entire sections of shingles had been lifted up. Each time it would rain and the wind was blowing, rain water was easily making it into the attic of the home. (Typically, when it rains during a storm, there are strong winds.) We documented the damage and reported it to the homeowner. He was utterly shocked when he saw how extensive the damage was! When your roof looks okay from ground level, it is just hard to believe that a storm could cause so much damage. But the pictures of the damage always provide a new understanding of how powerful Mother Nature can be.
Vinyl Siding Damage
In addition to the extensive damage on the roof, this particular home also had severe damage to the siding as well. There were cracks throughout entire sections of his vinyl siding. Again, this homeowner could’ve believe that so much damage had been inflicted on his home by a previous storm that happened in late spring. Remember, he was just looking to get a simple roof leak repair!
After documenting all of the damage, we advised this homeowner throughout the claims process. Ultimately, his roof and siding damage qualified as storm damage and was paid for by his insurance.
Once approved, we sent out our roofing contractor crew and our vinyl siding contractors crew at the homeowner’s convenience. The roof replacement and vinyl siding replacement were done in one day and we quickly cleaned up the yard mess afterward. The roof and siding were installed in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code and both came with full manufacturers warranties. Also, we provided our standard full workmanship warranty.

Recently a customer called us for a routine free roof inspection on his garage roof in Mansfield, Ohio. He discovered a leak and contacted us to handle this basic roof repair. He had looked us up online and researched our company and the types of work we did. He was especially interested in the quality of work we did. We were pleased he trusted us to handle the work for him.
Proven Roof Inspection Process
When one of our highly trained roofers inspected his garage roof he discovered that the garage had severe storm damage. Also, because our roofers are trained to be very thorough, he inspected the roof of the man’s home as well. It is very fortunate that our roofer followed our normal roof inspection process because the roof on the home had even worse storm damage than the garage!
We advised this customer of his various options and recommended a course of action that would serve the best interests of the homeowner. He contacted his insurance and provided them with our estimate and photographic evidence and the insurance company agreed that this was a possible claim. The insurance company wanted to meet the homeowner at the residence to verify all of the damages. The homeowner invited us to join to be certain all of the damages were pointed out from the inspection report. The insurance company verified the severe storm damage and the homeowner qualified for two new roofs. Both the garage and the home!

The first must-know tip if your roof has storm damage is, you need to know your homeowner’s insurance policy. Very few homeowners have the time to sit around studying their homeowner’s policy. So when you need to find out what type of policy you have and what it specifically covers, it can feel overwhelming. However, your policy reveals what it covers better than any person offering you their opinion.
Verify Your Coverage in Your Actual Policy
Call your insurance company and be certain you write down what they are telling you is covered and then verify on your actual written policy what they told you is true. Knowledge really is power and you should not just take their word for it. Your policy states specifically what it covers and it should be in writing on your actual policy. When you speak to your insurance agent, request that your agent directs you to the proper section so you know what is covered and what responsibilities you have as the homeowner.
Contact Local Roofers for a Free Estimate
What responsibilities do I have as a homeowner? First of all, you need to take proper action to prevent additional damage to your home. For example, you would contact some reputable roofers near Mansfield, Ohio. You will need them to come to your home and identify the damage and to provide you with a detailed written estimate of all those damage. You will then know if your home needs aroof repair or a roof replacement. Following this must know tip if your roof has storm damage will greatly help move the process along. Certainly, when you have your detailed written estimate to go over with your insurance claims agent, this will put you into a position of knowing what needs repaired.
Have Roofers Cover the Damage to Prevent Additional Roof Repairs
Lastly, a hugely important must know tip if you have storm damage is to have those roofers cover the damaged parts of your roof to prevent further damage. Immediately covering the damaged parts of your roof will reduce the risk of further damage and allow you to fulfill your obligation regarding your insurance policy to prevent any additional damage. Most importantly, when you have your roof covered it will set you on a path to protecting the interior of your home. For example, you will reduce the chances of roof leaks allowing water into the interior walls of the home and causing mold and wood rot.
A lot of homeowners install a new roof every single year. First of all, most people know what their roof should look like when it is installed. However, more experienced homeowners are aware of some of those lesser known parts of the roofing system that are absolutely essential to know. When it is time to replace your roof, here are three tips to know for a roof replacement.
Absolute Assurance Restorations are top rated roofers near Mansfield, Ohio. We are happy to share these tips to know for a roof replacement. Always use reputable roofers when doing any roof repair or roof replacement.
Roofing System – Drip Edge
Your newly installed roof needs to have all parts of the system installed properly for your roof to provide maximum protection to your home. Yes, you have the shingles, ridge vent, valleys and slopes, and gutters. But knowing what is installed underneath the exterior shingles is what makes all the difference.
Firstly, your preferred roofer needs to install drip edge. Drip edge is the metal strip attached along the edge of your roof. It prevents water from getting underneath your shingles. Consequently, it prevents your decking underneath your shingles from rotting. Water getting underneath your shingles will cause warping and rooting of the wood attached to your home’s rafters.
Roof Decking Boards
Secondly, before you install your new roof, you must be certain that the decking boards underneath are not warped or rotted. You must replace any damaged decking boards. Without sturdy decking boards your shingles cannot be nailed correctly to your roof. Most importantly, when replacing your decking boards you must be certain they have minimal gaps between them. Consequently, when decking boards aren’t installed correctly, many of the nails used to fasten the shingles won’t be nailed to anything. As a result, this reduces the effectiveness of your roofing system.
Ice Guard and Water Shield
Lastly, due to the harsh winters in Central Ohio, it is must that you install ice guard and water shield underneath your shingles. Installing these two waterproof underlayment’s will safeguard your home from water that gets underneath your shingles when ice damming and heavy winds occur.
Not installing any of these three important parts of your roofing system can cause any homeowner countless hours of stress. That is why knowing these three tips for a roof replacement are absolutely essential.
