On Sunday, a decision was made to extend the “closure of all K-12 schools“ until May 1st. This most recent extension tells us two things. Firstly, it tells us that “flattening the curve” by avoiding community spread is helping here in the state of Ohio. Secondly, it tells us how dire it is that we flatten the curve by adhering to the “stay-at-home” order, including social distancing. 

Most importantly, up to this point, the good citizens of Ohio have responded and demonstrated the dedication and sacrifice to help reduce community spread. Many self-sacrificing family, friends and neighbors are actively engaging in the “new normal.” And that includes home-schooling and eLearning with their school-aged children, working from home when possible, and avoiding excessive trips to grocery stores and pharmacies. Also, the cleaning of our hands over-and-over is helping to reduce the chance of community spread.
