This week we did a roof replacement for one of our customers. It should be noted that their new roof was being paid for by insurance because of storm damage to their roof. In this case, the fierce winds from a recent storm lifted up quite a few of their shingles and scattered them throughout their yard. Importantly, I’m happy to say that our customer followed our standard process for storm damage and had a pretty smooth journey from calling us for a free estimate to having their roof replaced.
Storm Damage Process
First of all, they took that very important step by contacting us to get a free roof estimate. Sometimes that first step can be difficult because who do you trust? In this case, the customer did some research and found us as one of the most reputable companies in the region. Then he checked out our Google reviews. He recognized immediately, based on our reviews, that we were easy to work with and very detail oriented.
Secondly, we provided them with an initial estimate. They then used this with their insurance company because it documented all of the visible storm damage. We provided consultation with the customer before and directly after they spoke with the insurance company. Most importantly, our guidance came in handy throughout this process because the customer was made very aware of what needed to happen. And they were informed about the proper steps they needed to take to get their roof damage paid for.
Roof Replacement in Ashland
Next, we assisted the customer with picking their new roof to provide for maximum curbside appeal. Consequently, the new look shingles look fantastic and their home has a much newer and fresher look to it. Lastly, we did the full roof replacement and installed a great roofing system that will protect their home from the harsh outside elements in Central Ohio. (All roofing work is done in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code regulations.)
It is an eye-opening experience when a homeowner contacts us to get a routine roof inspection for a leak and we inform them we discovered storm damage during this routine inspection. This particular homeowner, we’ll call him Mr. Smith, simply wanted a roof inspection by top rated roofers in Mansfield Ohio.
Mr Smith believed it was time for a new roof shortly after he noticed water damage in his ceiling. He contacted us to get an estimate for a new roof since he believed that his was getting pretty old. Most shingle roofs last between 25 and 30 years and he figured his had served its useful life. We sent one of our experienced roofers to do an inspection before Mr. Smith purchased a new roof. Oftentimes, when you have ceiling damage caused by a roof leak you can get by with a simple roof repair.
Storm Damage Roof Inspection
Upon arriving at the home, our roofer did a thorough inspection of the roof in search of the leak. After finishing the inspection, our roofer informed them (the homeowners) that their roof actually had severe storm damage caused by harsh winds. In addition, he showed them the detailed pictures of the damage and informed that most often this type of damage was covered as storm damage under most homeowner’s insurance policies.
Our roofer left the information with the homeowner and they contacted their insurance company about the damage. After doing their due diligence, the insurance company informed the homeowner that their roof damage qualified as wind damage and they would cover the damage, minus their deductible. Along with photos of the damages we also provided consultation for them so that there wouldn’t be any confusion during their back and forth with their insurance company.
Roof Replacement Approved on a Claim
Shortly after the insurance company gave the green-light to replace their roof, we installed their new roofing system in one day. Needless to say, they were very happy to get their new roof. In addition, they were super excited to have their roof paid for by their insurance simply because storm damage was discovered during a routine inspection. Talk about a win-win!

Absolute Assurance Restorations is one of the top ratedroofing companies in Mansfield, Ohio. Without a doubt, we provide top level service when assisting customers to correctly identify roof and siding damage caused by fierce storms. In addition, we work with our customers to inform them of the best course of action when we do find storm damage to their home. Never should a homeowner have to go at it alone when trying to navigate the complex process of handling a storm claim.
A recent customer of ours called us out for a typical leak in their roof and what seemed like a simple leak became a new roof. They just happened to be in an area that had experienced severe hail storm. Regardless, this particular customer was out of town and uncertain of how severe the storm had been, they simply noticed a small water spot on their ceiling. If anything, it just seemed like a simple repair. Nevertheless, they called us out for a free roof inspection and figured this was going to be a a quick and easy repair. Not even close.
Roof Hail Damage
What started out as a simple call for a small leak, ended up becoming a rather large storm damage claim for the homeowner. When one of our highly trained roofers got on their roof, what he discovered was large amounts of hail strikes that had severely damaged the shingles. He also documented that the flashing was severely damaged around the chimney area. (The obvious leak the customer called about was caused by the chimney flashing leak, more on that in a minute.) We provided the customer with the documented damage and as a result they contacted their homeowner’s insurance company to file a claim.
What is important to note in this situation is that we were the second company this homeowner called. They hadn’t checked the credibility of the first company they originally called for an estimate. That first company gave them a quick repair estimate for the chimney flashing and didn’t even notice all of the severe roof damage from the hail strikes! The homeowner called us for a second opinion because we had superior ratings and reviews compared to the first company they had called. Unlike the other company, we were thorough and made certain that we inspected their entire roof and we documented everything the homeowner would need to make an informed decision with our recommendations.
A Simple Leak Becomes a New Roof
In the end, because of our superior expertise to accurately identify storm damage and provide an excellent course of action, we earned their trust and performed all of the necessary work to restore their home to its proper condition. Most importantly, the entire job was paid for by their insurance company (minus their deductible)! Included in their storm damage roof repairs was an entire roof replacement, new gutters, flashing, and even two brand new second floor windows.

Absolute Assurance Restorations is one of the top rated roofing companies in the region. We pride ourselves on providing you with elite roofing and siding installation services especially on roof damage storm claims. We value our customers and the trust they have for us and we will always do right by them. However, not all roofing companies can make the same claim. Oftentimes, customers are persuaded to use companies who are either not that skilled in roofing or they place their trust in a referral and end up with a company who cuts corners to save money. Both of these scenarios tend to not work out well for the homeowner and create bad outcomes for them.
Roof Replacement Claim
For example, recently a homeowner contacted us about a consistent roof leak on a roof that was just replaced two years earlier. The new roof was paid for by their insurance company because it was a roof damage storm claim. This family trusted their insurance company’s recommendation to use a local roofing company to do the roof replacement. They were assured that this company was good due to the fact they were a “preferred vendor” by their insurance company. Why wouldn’t you trust your insurance company? That seems like it would be a wise decision.
On this particular roof, the preferred contractor didn’t install the roof according to the Ohio Revised Code. (It is important to note, when your roof isn’t installed correctly your manufacturer warranty is voided.) And because of that fact, the shingles were not fastened correctly and were prone to get lifted up during wind storms. This caused consistent leaks from their roof. And despite all of the leaks that damaged the interior of the home, the roof didn’t have any visible damage from the ground. Basically, the shingles would get lifted up slightly during the storm, allowing rainwater to enter the home, then settle back down after the storm making it look like the roof was in pristine condition.
Get a Roof Inspection
The homeowner kept contacting the preferred contractor who installed the new roof and they refused to stand by their workmanship. They didn’t believe that rainwater entering into the home was caused by them, despite the fact that they installed the roof! This back and forth went on for multiple years. Frustrated, the homeowner gave up trying to get them to do the right thing.
We were called to do a free “no contact” roof inspection to diagnose the problem for them. Because of our extensive experience diagnosing roof leaks, we figured it out pretty quickly. Ultimately, we had to replace their entire roof due to it being installed incorrectly. In contrast to the previous company, when we installed the new roof, we installed it correctly and in accordance with the Ohio Revised Code. Above all, the problem is now solved, no more rainwater leaking into the home during storms.
Use a Certified Roofing Company
I believe this story is important for all homeowners to be aware of. Most insurance companies will do the right thing in most cases. However, don’t just take their word for it about a preferred contractor. Sometimes who they prefer won’t put your needs ahead of the insurance company’s needs.
The best way to avoid a shoddy roofing company is to check their license and insurance credentials, their reviews, and most importantly check to make sure that your roofing company is a certified installer so your new roof warranty doesn’t get voided. By following these roof storm damage claim pro tips you will be more likely to have a positive experience.
Throughout the Ohio stay-at-home orders, Absolute Assurance Restorations has been operating at full-scale as an essential business. As hard working roofers in Ohio, we are super excited that a plan was laid out toResponsibly Restart Ohio that will directly help more businesses reopen across Ohio. Since we have been fully functional throughout these difficult times, we are confident that as a society we can do this while protecting one another.
Basic Safety Procedures Will Continue
Public officials laid out their basic plan for all Ohioans to follow so that more of us can get back to work while simultaneously still protecting each other and our families. Firstly, the plan involves staggering the opening of select sectors of the economy while still balancing health and safety. Secondly, maintaining current social distancing procedures are essential. Thirdly, employees must wear “face coverings.” Also, employees must maintain hand washing procedures and periodically sanitize their work spaces. Lastly, any employee who is symptomatic at work must “immediately isolate and seek medical care.”
Here is the bulletin issued out by health officials:
Responsible Restart Ohio Business Open Dates
Here is a breakdown of businesses that can open in Ohio with the start date:
On May 1, we will have a healthcare opening. Remember, we slowed non-essential procedures down because we needed to make sure: that we had enough hospital beds, PPE, and social distancing… All healthcare procedures that do not require an overnight stay in a hospital can move forward. Dentists and veterinarians can also begin full steam ahead on May 1.
May 4th: Manufacturing, Distribution, and Construction will open back up. But we’re going to require those who are opening and those who already have been open – to follow strict guidelines on how to reopen.
May 4th: General office environments can reopen in Ohio. However, we still want people to work from home as much as possible.
May 12th: Consumer, Retail, and Services to reopen.
Businesses Not Scheduled to Open Yet
At this time, some business sectors are not permitted to reopen until further notice including:
I personally know many small business owners who cannot open yet. They are great people and this is a very difficult time for them and their employees. I think it is important for the rest of us to do our part to further this opening process along by maintaining all required safety standards. Until then, we will continue to support as many businesses as we can, including restaurants who offer carry-out meals and eLearning for students.
Soon enough, we hope our fellow Ohioans are back to work. I look forward to the day when I can get my typical buzz cut, get a great workout in at the gym, and grab a beer at my favorite restaurant.
When a storm damages your siding you will need to get an inspection done as soon as possible. If there are visible holes or cracks in your siding then you will need to get it repaired as soon as possible. High velocity crosswinds can blow debris or hail directly into your siding causing severe damage. Oftentimes, the damage is more severe than most people realize because it goes beyond just needing siding replacement. There may be hidden damage toward the peaks of the home where the damage isn’t quite as visible when you are observing the damage from the ground.
Most homeowner’s policies protect you from wind and hail damage when it damages your siding, windows, and trim. Most importantly, your roof is covered in the event that the damage affected your roof as well. When we get called out to do inspections for siding damage caused by storms, we always inspect the roof. It is essential that when you get an inspection for your siding that the roofers inspect your roof as well. Consequently, if your siding is damaged by the storm then it is highly likely that your roof is damaged as well.
Storm Damage Siding & Roof Inspection
When customers call Absolute Assurance Restorations about siding damage, first of all, we give you a free siding inspection. Secondly, we inspect your siding and then we inspect your roof. Above all, your roof will be thoroughly inspected for missing and lifted up shingles from the wind and possible hail damaged shingles. Roof damage must be identified as soon as possible to prevent further damage to your home. Lastly, it is important to keep in mind that most homeowner’s policies cover cosmetic damage as well. For example, hail damage will not cause leaks if it dents metal roofing, but in many cases the metal roofing is still covered under cosmetic damage on your homeowner’s policy.
After your free estimate we will provide you with your best options for your storm damage siding repair. We are a top rated metal roofing company in Mansfield, Ohio. As a roofing contractor, Absolute Assurance Restorations is an essential business in Ohio.
On Sunday, a decision was made to extend the “closure of all K-12 schools“ until May 1st. This most recent extension tells us two things. Firstly, it tells us that “flattening the curve” by avoiding community spread is helping here in the state of Ohio. Secondly, it tells us how dire it is that we flatten the curve by adhering to the “stay-at-home” order, including social distancing.
Most importantly, up to this point, the good citizens of Ohio have responded and demonstrated the dedication and sacrifice to help reduce community spread. Many self-sacrificing family, friends and neighbors are actively engaging in the “new normal.” And that includes home-schooling and eLearning with their school-aged children, working from home when possible, and avoiding excessive trips to grocery stores and pharmacies. Also, the cleaning of our hands over-and-over is helping to reduce the chance of community spread.

Yesterday at the daily health conference the state of Ohio was moved from a “stay at home advisory” to a “stay at home order.” In other words, we are ordered to stay at home and practice social distancing. These measures are being taken to prevent community spread. But can you leave your home?
The Stay at Home orderrequires people to remain in their homes unless they have an essential jobor are doing an essential task like going to the grocery store or walking a pet.
During recent press conferences, we were provided with a basic understanding of exceptions for this stay-at-home order. Only essential businesses can remain open. But what is considered an essential business?

Absolute Assurance Restorations is a top roofing contractor near Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport, Mansfield, Ohio. We were contacted recently by a customer and this customer’s name was Michael. Unfortunately, Michael discovered water damage occurring due to an exterior roof leak. Because of the requirements of his homeowner’s insurance policy he needed to limit the damage as soon as possible. As a result he inspected his roof from the ground once the weather cleared. He didn’t recognize any damage from the ground. No missing shingles and he couldn’t quite tell if there were lifted up shingles on his roof. Almost certainly he figured he had wind damage from the night before, he could hear the wind howl from indoors.
Top Roofing Contractor near Mansfield Lahm Regional Airport
Michael was certain that the interior water damage was caused by wind damage to his roof, but he was uncertain as to the extent of the damage. He knew he needed to take action immediately to avoid additional damage on the interior of his home and his attic. He contacted us, Absolute Assurance Restorations, for the reason that so many other customers do, we are the top rated roofing contractor in the region. We responded immediately to his call.
We did a Free Roof Estimate
Firstly, when we arrived, we immediately performed a thorough roof inspection. Next, we discussed with Michael the type of roof damage that we found and provided him with a free written estimate. Almost all of the damage was caused on the front side of his home. His home had lifted up shingles and nail pops scattered across an entire section of his roof. Fortunately, the sheathing wood beneath the roof was sturdy and would not need to be replaced. We provided Michael with everything he needed due to the fact that he wanted to contact his homeowner’s insurance company about a claim. Lastly, we tarped the front side of his to prevent any additional rain damage that could occur.
A few days later Michael requested that we meet with him. When we arrived we had a detailed discussion about his best options. Michael wanted us to replace his roof and restore his interior home. His insurance company said they would cover the damage and agreed to honor our detailed and thorough estimate. Also, Michael was excited that this included all of the interior ceiling damage.
We Scheduled a Roof Replacement
Next, Michael scheduled the best time for him to have us repair his roof. We worked out the details with him and ordered the materials. Once we got the final approval, we got to work and did a complete roof replacement. We tore off the old, installed the new roof, and we repaired the interior ceiling damage in one day.
